91 Points for Ernie Els 2010 Stellenbosch Signature

From the February 2015 issue of Wine & Spirits magazine:

91 points      Ernie Els 2010 Stellenbosch Signature

The top selection from this estate, this is a blend of cabernet sauvignon (60%) and merlot (25%) with petit verdot, malbec and franc. The 2010 saw a cool start to the season and an extremely hot end. The yields were low and, somehow, a touch of that coolness is preserved in the floral, plump red-cherry flavors of the wine. There’s plenty of oak influence here (it aged in 100% new French oak barrels), reading as walnut richness. The tannins carry complex warmth, a brash touch of saddle leather, even as they feel fully ripened and mature.
